6th Separate Ranger Regiment of the Special Operations Forces
The 6th SOF RANGERS Regiment is a unit of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, formed in 2024 during the Russian-Ukrainian war. The main areas of its activity are reconnaissance, direct action, and conducting special operations. The regiment combines modern combat experience, high training, and readiness to act where the outcome of the operation is decided.

It features a heraldic shield divided diagonally into black and blue fields and trimmed with a silver border. The black field depicts a silver wolf's head – a symbol of strength, endurance, and determination. The blue field features a silver combat knife, embodying professionalism and readiness to perform special tasks. The combination of these symbols reflects the specific nature of the regiment's activities. The emblem is made in the colors traditionally characteristic of units of the Special Operations Forces of the AFU.

The regiment was formed with a view to changes in the methods of warfare. To this end, heavy weapons designed to support and transport personnel were adopted. The unit is equipped with the most modern Western weapons.
International experience and peacekeeping missions
On an ongoing basis, the 6th SOF Regiment cooperates with Western partners regarding personnel training.
War since 2014: Crimea and Donbas
The 6th Regiment includes service members who have combat experience gained during the Russian-Ukrainian war since 2014 and participation in peacekeeping operations under the auspices of the UN. They actively pass on their acquired knowledge and skills to the new generation of rangers.
Full-scale war since 2022
The combat path of the regiment's units began in 2024 during the Kursk operation. Currently, the regiment's units continue to perform combat tasks in the Donetsk and Kharkiv directions.
Heroes and successors
The 6th SOF RANGERS Regiment has demonstrated impressive results in combat operations, showing unparalleled skill and resilience in the most difficult conditions. Its personnel, working in coordination, achieved tactical victories, showing their high combat capability, professionalism, and ability to effectively perform complex combat tasks in various operational areas. The successful actions of the units contributed to improving the tactical position of Ukrainian units, capturing key positions, and deterring the enemy's offensive.
However, despite the achievements, the unit repeatedly engaged in fierce battles, during which it suffered casualties among its personnel. The service members who gave their lives in the struggle for the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Ukraine will forever remain in the ranks as heroes. Their sacrifice is a reminder of the high price that must be paid for every meter of our native land.
For the successful execution of combat (special) tasks, the service members of the military unit have been awarded state honors, which confirms their high professionalism and dedication to the cause of fighting for the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
