Separate Signal Regiment of the SOF
The Separate Signal Regiment of the Special Operations Forces (SOF) of the AFU is a high-tech unit that acts as the "nerve center" of control for all special operations. Its main task is to ensure uninterrupted, interception-resistant, and secure communications between command and special forces combat groups, particularly during their operations deep in the enemy's rear. The regiment's fighters are the first to deploy secure communication networks at positions and utilize advanced IT solutions, modern cryptography, and counter-EW (electronic warfare) tools. This is an elite team of engineers, programmers, and military specialists whose work guarantees the informational and technological superiority of the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces on the battlefield.

Formation and heritage
The Separate Signal Regiment of the SOF was formed during the transformation period of the Ukrainian military after the outbreak of the war in 2014, when it became obvious: communications are a critical element of modern warfare. The unit was created taking into account combat experience, the needs of rapid operations, and NATO standards.
Date of establishment: May 12, 2016. Created on the basis of the 111th ICN (Information and Communication Node).
The unit was formed on a novel principle: not only experienced military signalers but also leading civilian specialists in IT, telecommunications, cryptography, and cybersecurity were recruited to its ranks to build a technological control base according to the best NATO standards.
Today, the regiment continues to develop as a center of competence in the field of military communications, implementing new solutions, training specialists, and ensuring the continuity of control over the Special Operations Forces.
War since 2014: Crimea and Donbas
Since the creation of the Special Operations Forces in 2016, the regiment's service members have been directly involved in most SOF operations. Operating within combat groups, professional signalers ensured the deployment of networks and supported stable, secure control of units during the execution of assigned tasks.

Full-scale war since 2022
Since February 2022, the regiment has scaled its operations in line with the expansion of the combat zone. The unit's specialists ensure stable and secure control of SOF combat groups in all directions of the front under conditions of intense enemy electronic countermeasures. During this time, the regiment has significantly upgraded its hardware base, integrating modern satellite communication systems, automated troop command and control systems, and the latest encryption algorithms for continuous data exchange.
Units fought in Donetsk Oblast, Kharkiv Oblast, and the Zaporizhzhia direction, participated in the defense of Kyiv, the liberation of Izium, the Kursk operation, the defense of Bakhmut, and the battles for Avdiivka.
Heroes and successors
The practical combat experience of the fallen service members has been systematized and forms the basis of training programs for preparing new specialists. The modern personnel of the regiment adopt this knowledge, preserving continuity and maintaining the strict operational standards and safety protocols established by the unit's veterans since its inception.
