4th Separate Ranger Regiment of the Special Operations Forces
The 4th Ranger Regiment is one of the newest units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, specializing in reconnaissance and conducting special operations. The regiment was founded on March 31, 2024, and actively participated in the defense of Sumy Oblast that same year. It constantly participates in the fight against the enemy, using modern techniques and methods.

It features a heraldic shield divided diagonally into black and maroon fields and trimmed with a silver border. The black field depicts a silver wolf's head, symbolizing strength, endurance, and the ability to act decisively under any circumstances. The maroon field features a silver combat knife – a traditional symbol of a professional warrior, ready to execute the most complex tasks. The combination of these elements embodies fighting spirit, mastery, and dedication to military duty. The emblem is made in the colors characteristic of units of the Special Operations Forces of the AFU.

Full-scale war since 2022
The unit's combat path began in 2024. After its creation, staffing, and training of personnel, the unit deployed to its first sector, namely Sumy Oblast. There, they performed tasks involving special actions, holding positions, delivering artillery strikes, and disrupting enemy logistics using fixed-wing attack drones.
The fighters of the "four" operate on the front line, deep in the enemy's rear, and under the most difficult conditions. Their work consists of special actions. These are complex, multi-level operations combining technology, reconnaissance, and psychological pressure on the enemy. A successful mission of the regiment took place during one of the battles in eastern Ukraine, when it was necessary not only to dislodge the enemy from fortified positions but also to destroy their reserves before they could reach the front line.
The rangers not only delivered precise strikes on the enemy's logistics hubs but also deceived the occupiers into sending their reinforcements to the wrong location. As a result, the enemy's defensive positions simply collapsed, and Ukrainian forces seized the initiative.
"Our regiment is one of the youngest in the SOF, yet the experienced and highly qualified special forces operators of the 'four' effectively strike critical enemy targets and conduct combat operations behind enemy lines," says one of the unit's officers.

Combat path and famous operations
Battles in Kursk Oblast. Units of the 4th Regiment took an active part in conducting successful raids on the territory of the Russian Federation, as well as engaging in effective combat clashes with North Korean servicemen involved in the hostilities on Russia's side.
Defense of Sumy Oblast and the border area. Involved in the elimination of enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups (DRGs) and countering occupation forces.
Operations in Donetsk Oblast. In early 2026, the regiment's UAV crews and operators successfully eliminated enemy artillery and manpower in the Donetsk direction.
Operations against communications and logistics. Using "Darts" type drones, the warriors destroy enemy communication towers and logistics hubs.
Heroes and successors
The unit is staffed by people who have gone through all stages of the war since 2014 and pass on their experience and training to future Rangers for the successful fulfillment of their assigned tasks.
